The End Times - Mark Of The Beast.
Who is the Beast and what is his Mark?
The below information is useful, but above all understand that the mark of the beast is not for this time. The Antichrist is not yet on this planet (whatever the speculation may say), and will not come for hundreds of years yet. There is work to be done before ever the earth reaches that point - check out the information on our Kingdom Age pages.
Revelation 13:18 has always provided fertile ground for commentators seeking to come up with the answer to the question, "Who is the Beast and what is his mark?" It is vital to know this because receiving the mark will immediately proclaim the individual's allegiance to the Beast (who is ultimately Satan), and Revelation 14:9-10 makes the consequences clear: "If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, he, too, will drink of the wine of God's fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath.
There will come a time when the Antichrist will set up arrangements to make it extremely difficult for people to refuse to worship him by taking the Mark of the Beast: "He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. (Revelation 13:16) For this reason, it is vital to know who the Antichrist will be and what the mark will entail.
NOTE: The mark will not be a microchip - it will be a very visible mark on the skin. Satan will want everyone to be able to identify his followers.
Translations have traditionally given the mark as 666, and this has led to a multitude of speculation and calculations (gematria) to try to find out who the Antichrist of scripture might be. The numeral 666 is derived by translating into their numeric equivalent the three Greek letters found in ancient manuscripts of the book of Revelation - chi, zeta, sigma:
When Walid Shoebat looked at the Codex Vaticanus though, he immediately saw something different - he recognized the three letters shown there as Arabic:
These letters read right to left as "In the name of Allah", followed by the crossed swords symbol, which is the traditional insignia of Islam. Historically, Islamic warriors have worn these words and insignia on their foreheads and on their right arm when going into battle. Interesting parallel with Revelation 13:16 "...to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads..."
Revelation 13:18 then translates as, "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding decide who the multitude of the beast is: for it is the multitude of a man and his multitude are "In the name of Allah":
This information is provided by Walid Shoebat in the video Mark of The Beast and Other Prophecies and in the same video Chuck Missler follows and recommends this interpretation. It is suggested that the Bible is therefore quite clearly telling anyone that "hath understanding", where the Antichrist will come from, and lead the enemy forces at the battle of Armageddon.
A further clue to the identity of the Antichrist is suggested later in this video. The narrator points out that the Antichrist and his army are stated to come from 'the north', which has been thought to point to Russia. However, the narrator set out to identify what land(s) are truly 'north' of Jerusalem and the result of his experiment shows that Moscow is in fact not directly north of Israel (nor is Geneva, Switzerland or Rome of course), but Turkey is:
Following this line of thought tends towards the view that the Antichrist could come from a country in the Middle East - most likely from Turkey. It all depends on how strictly you interpret "north". The following facts listed in the same video also give more food for thought:

Footnote: You will notice that the letters in the Oxyrhynchus Papyrus shown above are not exactly the same as the Greek chi, zeta, sigma. They have been interpreted as X I and C. The problem with that is there is no Greek letter C (a fact that the proponents of '616' seem to ignore). It has also been suggested that these letters may be Proto-Sinaitic script.
