The Deception of The Nations:
How People and Countries Are Being Blinded.
As I waited in line at the supermarket checkout a few days ago and watched all the people hurrying to and fro, two questions flashed into my mind:
1) How many of these people know where they are going when the world ends? (As it surely will).
2) How many of these people know what is REALLY happening in world politics right now?
Everyone was rushing around with their trolleys, their groceries, and in some cases their kids. It was not a good feeling at all to realise that the answer to both questions is most likely, "Very, very few."
People are not to blame : there is massive deception afoot, now more than ever before.
I couldn't help but think of the days of Noah, when Noah apparently spent some time over the years telling his countrymen that God was going to send a great flood, and none of them paid the least bit of notice.
Jesus warned that the same thing would happen in the end times: "As it was in the Days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,
And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so also shall the coming of the Son of Man be." (Matthew 24:37-39).
Just as an aside - I have seen it suggested that Noah actually did NOT warn people, since there is no direct reference to it in Genesis, and the evidence it is said relies solely on 2 Peter 2:4-5. It follows from this interpretation that when the flood came it took everyone except Noah's family pretty much by surprise.
Well, I'll go with Jesus on this one. The Greek word for 'know' used in Matthew 24 is 'gignosko', which means not only to 'learn', but also to 'perceive, discern, understand, form a judgement' (especially in the past tenses, which is what is used in Matt 24). I think the whole trend of what Jesus was saying is that people were told, but paid no attention. Didn't He have that happen in His own ministry?
I also find two things about the 'no warning' interpretation of the Flood very hard to believe:
That God would have given people no chance whatever to be saved - that is not in His nature - remember Sodom and Gomorrah;
That the locals would not have noticed the ark being built (120 years - surely they did!), and that Noah would not have told them why he was building it.
Come on: we need to get our heads out of exegesis mania and apply some common sense.
1) Well, in people's lives the prince of darkness has 101 ways to keep their minds off the really important stuff. He fills their days up with TV, problems and enticements - How can we afford a new house? How can we get out of debt? How can we settle that dispute with our next door neighbours? How can we help our son deal with bullying at school? Who will win this weekend's football match? Will our school win the basketball? How can I get that girl to go out with me? - yes, and What's on TV tonight? - the world's biggest time-waster.
All of these may seem real enough, but when weighed against the really big question - "If the world ended tomorrow, what would happen to you and your family?" they pale into nothing. Yes you can hide behind the ultimate cop-out, "Well that's not going to happen!"
Maybe it's not going to happen TOMORROW, but remember none of us knowsd the number of our years. If you are not already saved, you need to do something about it, so you can be part of the exciting new Kingdom Age - see HERE.
SO - if you really do not know what would happen to you if the world fell apart tomorrow, I can tell you, you and your family are in serious trouble. I suggest most strongly that you read the following (links open in new windows) and take action:
