Archaeological Sites in Italy

This resource will concentrate on Italian archaeological finds that relate to Bible history only.

The sites represent all periods and some have visitor centres associated with them that offer guidebooks and many of the sites are increasingly well signposted.

Nero's rotating banquet hall unveiled in Rome
The room, part of Nero's Golden Palace, a sprawling residence built in the first century A.D., is thought to have been built to entertain government officials and VIPs, said lead archaeologist Francoise Villedieu.

  Roman Emperor's Villa Unearthed
Archaeologists in Italy say they have unearthed the remains of a sumptuous villa thought to be the birthplace of the Emperor Vespasian, AD9-79.
